Community Election on February 18

Elections for eight seats on the Grogan's Mill Village Association (GMVA) and five on the Residential Design Review Committee (RDRC) will take place on February 18, 2023.  If you would like more information about what we do click here.

Local Elections for Village Associations and the RDRC
Convenience Voting will take place Monday, February 13 through Friday the 17th from 8am -6pm at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd.  In these elections, the top candidates with the most votes will win.  We asked each candidate for the GMVA Board to send us a one paragraph summary of themselves and why they are running.  We are still waiting on a few, but these are most.

Sara Bissig: Sara has served on the GMVA board  since 2010.  She is a member of the Farmer's Market  committee and is responsible for engaging great musicians for the Farmers Market.  Sara’s interests include preserving the environment, recycling and revitalization of the Grogan’s Mill Village Center.

Lore Breitmeyer-Jones: Lore grew up in Grogan’s Mill and moved back to The Woodlands in 2010 after 17 years abroad as a restaurateur.  She has served on the Grogan’s Mill Village Association Board since being appointed last May.  She serves on the RRR committee and on the Scholarship Committee and is an active volunteer for other Community organizations. Her main campaign issue is the restoration of the Grogan's Mill Village Center and support for local small businesses.

Wes Cordova: Wes Cordova is a lifelong Houstonian who has resided in The Woodlands for the past 11 years.  He served in the Navy for 9 years prior to establishing a successful 20-year legal career.  As the owner of a small business within Grogan's Mill, We is very passionate about supporting the community.

Bruce Cunningham: Bruce is a long time director of the GMVA board and one of the founding members of the Woodlands Farmer's Market. Bruce has served as President several times over the past years and also serves as the President of MUD 6.  He is active in activities to improve Grogan’s Mill Village, e.g.  refurbishment of Village Center

Robert Doniger: We chose The Woodlands for our retirement home because of the serene nature of living in this planned community with tree lined streets.  In the time we have been here (20 months), we have witnessed the growth in rental properties in our area.  Rental properties are common in many communities, however, some of these properties have been detrimental to the appeal of our neighborhoods. Finally, I bring an open mind to improving the services provided to the residents of our community.  Starting with the existing committee charter, I would use my background in the design and improvement of systems used in warehouses and distribution centers from an Industrial Engineering perspective to gain information about the services provided and the cost of those services.  My approach is to first understand and document how the existing system works and the associated costs.  Then to imagine how to improve it based upon a cost/benefit analysis.  This approach provides the biggest bang for the limited dollars available for each project/assignment.

Vince Fredrick: Vince has officially served on the GMVA board for two years but has volunteered for the GMVA activities for the past 10 years with his wife Mitzi, a board member. Vince currently serves as Vice President

Aaron Hoffstadter: Aaron has served on the GMVA board for two years.  Aaron is the Chair of the The Woodlands Farmer's Market and is responsible for the growth and success of the market for the past two years.  Aaron also serves as a MUD 6 Director.  He had been engaged in activities to revitalize the Grogan’s Mill Village Center

Adrian Lopez: As someone who has only lived in town for six months, I am still getting to know my neighborhood and the people that live here. However, I have already come to appreciate the many benefits of living in this community, and I want to do my part to help ensure that it remains a great place to live.  Overall, I believe that being on the neighborhood association board would be a meaningful and rewarding way to get more involved in my community and to contribute to its well-being and success.

Kyle Souza: I am running for the GMVA Board because I want to serve my community in a meaningful way.  I love living here, raising my family here, and working here.  I want to do what I can to be involved in our community and hopefully have a positive effect on everyone I can.

Holly Willig: Having recently moved to The Woodlands two years ago, I'm immediately impressed by the incredible beauty and scope of the township! From the scenic walking paths to the family parks and public art installations, there is definitely something to see and do for everyone! I've served in myriad volunteer capacities, including most recently being the Navarro County office manager for Habit for Humanity, serving as a helper at the Montgomery County Food Bank, and driving a weekly Montgomery County Meals on Wheels route. Our family has long ties here as well. My husband Donny is a 1983 graduate of McCullough High where his dad, Weldon Willig, was the longtime football coach. I'd love to serve as one of the GMVA members and volunteer alongside my new neighbors and friends to keep our village fantastic. The Woodlands is truly a gem and I look forward to being here a long time!

Update on GM Shopping Center

The Village association has written a letter to the new Township Economic Development Committee asking them for help with revitalizing the Shopping Center.  Chairwoman Ann Snyder will attend the February 27 GMVA Meeting to give an update and address concerns raised.  The meeting is at 6 p.m. at  2801 Technology Forest Blvd.

A new convenience store, Buzzybee, is opening at the side of the Shell gas station. The store will carry some frozen foods and basic pantry essentials.  They are scheduled to open near the end of February.

Phat Eatery, which will be at the Fuddruckers location, has been delayed in opening because of the need to complying with township requirements to bring the property up to standard. A new opening date is expected to be announced  shortly.
