Parks and Rec Needs Assessment Survey

The Woodlands Township invites community members to participate in a Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment survey to gather community input for the Parks and Recreation Department. Survey questions include specifics related to sports fields, parks, pools, trails and amenities.

After you fill out the survey, please copy us on your recommendations for Grogan's Mill Village to jackson@gmva.org so that we may be aware of your concerns as well.

The public input survey is only available online until May 16, 2022, at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/recreationsurveys

Increase in Property Appraisal Values

The Montgomery County Appraisal District has increased almost all appraised home values by more than 10%. The increase in valuation was generally in the value of the land which has not changed in many years. We have asked the District for a further explanation of how and why they increased the valuations.

Spring Creek Flood Mitigation Feasibility Study

Following the recommendations of the San Jacinto Regional Watershed Master Drainage Plan, published in 2020, a $1M engineering study is underway to determine the feasibility of stormwater detention on Walnut and Birch Creeks in Waller County, in the upper part of the Spring Creek watershed. Preliminary hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in the Master Drainage Plan indicated positive flood reduction benefits along Spring Creek including The Woodlands and nearby areas. SJRA is the study project manager on behalf of several partners including five Woodlands utility districts. One challenge for the flood mitigation efforts being studied is a proposed solar farm to be constructed on the site of the conceptual Walnut Creek detention project. Although the detention and solar farm infrastructure footprints appear to be potentially incompatible, therefore impacting the project’s feasibility, options to accommodate both proposals have yet to be fully explored.

Farmer's Market is Hiring

Join The Woodlands Farmer's Market team! We are a small, dedicated group of market enthusiasts and we think we are pretty fun to work with. We currently have an opening for a Market Manager position.

The Market Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of the farmer’s market. This will include an on-site presence at the market during all market hours (every Saturday 6:45 a.m.-3:00 p.m.), as well as off-site work during non-market hours. The candidate will need their own transportation that can tow a trailer.

Please send an email to farmersmarket@gmva.org for more details if you are interested in the job. We would love to talk to you!
