Go to an Astros Game and Leave the Driving to Us
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The village will again sponsor a trip to the Astro's vs. Mets game on July 7th.  Tickets will be $11 and the Village Association will provide free bus transportation to and from the game.  For tickets call Joe Giovanniello 281-363-2698.
Blogs at The Chronicle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the GMVA meeting on Monday, Laura Isensee, a reporter for the Chronicle's Woodlands edition, made a presentation on the blogs available at the www.chron.com site. It is a worthwhile place to make your opinion known.
Traffic Light Cameras
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In case you hadn't heard, the state is likely to pass a law that will allow Montgomery County to monitor stop light violation with cameras.  Cameras for this purpose have already been installed on Woodlands Parkway and East Panther Creek and on Lake Woodlands.  It is likely that the Woodlands will soon be monitored.  You can read an article at The Chronicle blogs and let the community know what you think.
New Sheriff's Deputies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Corporal Donald Goldsby, supervisor of the new sheriff's deputies we have assigned to The Woodlands, visited the GMVA to report. Grogan's Mill will have five or six deputies assigned just to our community starting at the end of the month. Cpl. Goldsby described the type of service we will receive and gave us the crime stats on GM.  They showed that we don't have serious problems but the problems did increase significantly in May after school let out.  We have asked to have a patrol officer at all our future meetings to meet the community, tell us what is happening, and get feedback from the community on where the problems are.

Our meetings are on the third Monday of the month at the Community Associations Building on Lake Woodlands Drive. Come and find out what is happening where you live.
Quarterly Adopt-a-Path Walk Sunday Jun 24th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The GMVA has adopted a mile of path along the Millbend loop.  The group meets at 4pm in the parking lot at the TPC clubhouse.  We are the scruffy looking group with grabbers, and spend about an hour walking our path.  We have refreshments and burgers at one of our local Grogan's Mill resturants afterwards.  If you would like to join us and meet your neighbors just come over and introduce yourself.
National Night Out Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 6 to 8 P.M.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The purpose of National Night Out is to give neighborhood crime and drugs a going away party, more importantly it is designed to let you get to know your neighbors. The Grogan's Mill Village National Night Out party will be at Sawmill Park, right in back of the First Baptist Church school building on Grogan's Mill Road.

Alternatively, you can schedule a block party. Receive an information packet and invitations on Friday, July 13, from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. at the Community Associations Building, 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive.  Please contact the GMVA if you will be having a block party for National Night Out.  We would like to be involved!
Upcoming Good Neighbor Days
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be a Good Neighbor Day on Saturday, June 23rd, from 10-11:30am, at 19 Berryfrost Lane.
There will be a Good Neighbor Day on Saturday June 30th, from 10-11:30am, at 63 N. Bristol Gate Pl.
June Yard of the Month Winners
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shirley and Red LeSage have the June Yard of the Month.  They have lived in their home on Acorn Oak for 32 years, which they built  when The Woodlands was a dream, they were on a dirt road and there were only five houses on the street. Shirley does her own yard work and has planted an English garden where she once had an oak tree that she lost due to disease.  Red is an active member of his church and involved in many community activities. They chose a GMVA gift certificate from Chef Chan's.  Congratulations!

The runner ups were:
Alan and Janet Higgins on Berryfrost. The Higgins have achieved a forest-like feel to their yard with varying shades of green.  Congratulations neighbor, thanks for keeping the community green.

Daniel Hallock on East Red Cedar Circle.  Dan has taken a simplistic approach to landscaping and had done it well. His clean cut lawn is accented by giant elephant ears, airplane plants, native lantanas, and crepe myrtles.  Dan does all of his own upkeep. Thanks Dan.

Each month we give an award to a home in the community that is taken care of by the homeowner. The yard chosen as the best is given a $25 gift certificate to a store in the GM Center.
Wal-Mart Updates and Complaints
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wal-Mart continues to meet with the Association and the community.  They will be installing fill dirt at some homes on Dreamweaver where there has been water run off from there new store.
Anyone who has had a problem with water from the site should contact Dan Avalos, the GMVA Board Member who is coordinating with Wal-mart.  He is collecting the information on property damage as a result of the flooding and providing it to the construction company.  Please email him at  danava2004@yahoo.com  or call him at 832-885-5290 with your complaint, providing your NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, E-MAIL, type of damage including items damaged, work to be performed and an estimate of the dollar amount. We will attempt to contact homeowners individually.
We will continue to monitor this situation and keep you informed.
Sound Wall Updates
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The long struggle continues. TxDOT is still working on plans to build it from 82 to 124 North Deerfoot.  We are hoping that we can get it extended a little further.
If you have questions Jim Upham is the local coordinator for this effort.
WCA Materials to be Provided Online
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before each WCA meeting the board members are provided with a briefing packet about the issues that are to be discussed.  In the near future that information will be provided online for all the community to see.  If you are interested in what is happening this will be a worthwhile place to visit.
Wine Tastings
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those looking to improve their appreciation of wines, The Beverage Shoppe has wine tastings every Saturday from 2pm to 8 pm.
