at The Chronicle
the GMVA meeting on Monday, Laura Isensee, a reporter
for the Chronicle's Woodlands edition, made a presentation
on the blogs available at the www.chron.com
site. It is a worthwhile place to make your opinion
case you hadn't heard, the state is likely to pass
a law that will allow Montgomery County to monitor stop
light violation with cameras. Cameras for this
purpose have already been installed on Woodlands Parkway
and East Panther Creek and on Lake Woodlands.
It is likely that the Woodlands will soon be monitored.
You can read an article at The
and let the community know what you think.
Donald Goldsby, supervisor of the new sheriff's
deputies we have assigned to The Woodlands, visited
the GMVA to report. Grogan's Mill will have five
or six deputies assigned just to our community starting
at the end of the month. Cpl. Goldsby described the
type of service we will receive and gave us the crime
stats on GM. They showed that we don't have
serious problems but the problems did increase significantly
in May after school let out. We have asked to
have a patrol officer at all our future meetings to
meet the community, tell us what is happening, and get
feedback from the community on where the problems are.

Adopt-a-Path Walk Sunday Jun 24th
GMVA has adopted a mile of path along the Millbend loop.
The group meets at 4pm in the parking lot at the TPC
clubhouse. We are the scruffy looking group with
grabbers, and spend about an hour walking our path.
We have refreshments and burgers at one of our local
Grogan's Mill resturants afterwards. If you
would like to join us and meet your neighbors just come
over and introduce yourself.

school building on Grogan's Mill Road.

Yard of the Month Winners
Shirley and Red LeSage have the
June Yard of the Month. They have lived in their
home on Acorn Oak for 32 years, which they built
when The Woodlands was a dream, they were on
a dirt road and there were only five houses on the
street. Shirley does her own yard work and has planted
an English garden where she once had an oak tree that
she lost due to disease. Red is an active member
of his church and involved in many community activities.
They chose a GMVA gift certificate from Chef Chan's.
The runner ups were:
Alan and Janet Higgins on Berryfrost.
The Higgins have achieved a forest-like feel to their
yard with varying shades of green. Congratulations
neighbor, thanks for keeping the community green.
Daniel Hallock on East Red Cedar
Circle. Dan has taken a simplistic approach
to landscaping and had done it well. His clean
cut lawn is accented by giant elephant ears, airplane
plants, native lantanas, and crepe myrtles.
Dan does all of his own upkeep. Thanks Dan.
Each month we give an award to a home in the community
that is taken care of by the homeowner. The yard chosen
as the best is given a $25 gift certificate to a store
in the GM Center.
